Kyoto Railway Station Highlights
The beauty of glass and steel, the building of Kyoto train station is something more than a major transport hub of the city - it's also one of the popular tourist attractions. Of course, it's primary function is to serve trains (including the world-famous Shinkansen) to such amazing Japanese cities as Tokyo, Osaka, and Hiroshima, but the station is worth visiting even if you don't have a train trip in mind, as it provides excellent shopping opportunities. If you don't have enough time before departure to treat yourself to a shopping rendezvous, make sure to at least stop by the Sky Tunnel, located above Kyoto's bullet train station's central hall. It offers some of the best views of the city, so you definitely won't be disappointed.
What is more, the nearby area is also not short of sites to explore. Within walking distance from the station, you can find the Kyoto Tower, Kyoto Theater, and the "Eki" Museum.
