The story of Nagoya Train Station started over a hundred years ago, in 1886. Apart from being the busiest railway hub of the city, the striking building is also the headquarters of one of Japan Railway Group departments, the Central Japan Railway Company, operating most of the trains serving the station. Also, keep in mind that it's the only place in the city where you can catch a Shinkansen train.
The territory the station takes up is huge, over 440 square meters. In fact, Nagoya terminal a record-holder as the biggest train station by floor area in the world! But that's not all, that building that houses the station is also a champion of sorts, as it's the tallest railway-station complex on the planet! |
